I am really hoping the 15's would do a touch better than the 5.4's.
Surprised there is not more people reporting their mileage....I guess not many 15' expedition forum users.
I have heard the newer 5.4 expeditions can knock down 20mpg highway if taking it easy. Pretty impressive...i would hope the ecoboost could knock down a touch better.

If you got a truck with the 3.31 axles then you'd likely do better but you'll sacrifice some towing ability.
However, the ecoboost trucks will out tow the 5.4L trucks hands down.
Thank you. I just did the manual calculation and 500/33.5= 14, which is awful. I'll continue with the calculations and hopefully it gets better.
How many miles are on your truck sir?
It's been my experience and the experience of many F-150 owners that the mileage increases incrementally as the engine wears in, some have not experienced this. My MPG's peaked out at about 8000 miles and have remained impressive for the rest of my time and I'm now at 54K miles.

We had a 2008 EB expedition with 3.31 gears. My wife averaged mid 14's compared to the 2015's mid 16's in the same driving. On a beach trip, the 08 averaged high 18's. The 2015 on the same trip averaged just over 20.
In our case, the Eco averaged about 2mpg better everywhere. And the power difference is embarrassing. Really. The 5.4 and 3.31 gears wouldn't hold 6th on any incline. The Eco with 3.31's just laughs it off happily in 6th. The 5.4 wouldn't spin a tire in any condition. The Eco gives the traction control a workout. The throttle response is awesome compared to my 2014 F150 with Eco.

I've only 2250 right now, so hopefully I experience the same luck as you and it gets better. Otherwise, I'll just have to get over it and enjoy everything else I like about it. Fill ups are cheap at 'round 66-70, so not that big a deal. I'll still keep on the manual calculations just to make sure I'm getting the best reading.
If I could keep my foot out of it, I'd might be inclined to post numbers that would be relevant. However, most of our driving is around town and/or towing the travel trailer. The rest of the time it sits in the garage as I have a work car that gets driven daily.
My '16 expy was getting 16.6 on a brand new engine out on the highway with some mild city mixed in. Unfortunately, a valet left the car running over night and the mileage dropped to 14.7. Bringing the car home got it back up to 15.5 in highway only running. Mostly 70-75, but a few jaunts up into higher speeds.
FYI, there is NO limiter at 95 like my old 12 F150 or my 13 F250. I don't know if there is one at all, yet. I run roads that are marked 75 and 80, so running at speed is routine around here. I was ALWAYS bumping the limiter of the 150 just going by somebody.
I have been looking at off-lease '13 and '14 Expeditions and have concern about MPG. I may hold off and wait for a used '15 to come along. I have a great '02 E150 van with a 4.6 and the lifetime gas mileage (127k miles) average is 16.0 almost exactly, and it gets 17-18 on the road going the speed limit or slightly above, and could do 20 mpg if I went 60 mph (which I don't)...
I am hoping not to do worse than that with an Expy but I think a '13 or '14 V8 Expy would be hard pressed to do that well. The EB is intriguing as a compromise engine, with more power as well.
One major difference is going to be the rear axle ratio. If you have the 3.73 axle, your mileage will never be as good on the freeway as it would with a 3.31 if you are lightly loaded. In the city, they may be pretty equal with the 3.73 giving better performance. For towing, the 3.73 would probably be the best compromise.
As bad as gas mileage in the mid-teens might seem, the depreciation on a newer Expedition or Navigator is actually a MUCH larger cost than the extra gas one would use compared to, say, a minivan averaging in the low 20's.
So I'm subscribing to this thread,
Keep up the reports,
