recently picked up a 92 f150 with a 302. it had an aftermarket dipstick and tube. I knew it was not correct for the truck but was unsure why. it was really low down hard to reach and the mounting tab didn't match anything to bolt to. well I figured out some one put an aftermarket dipstick and tube for a front position motor on and mine is side dipstick. I compared it to a front and it was identical. so any guesses how far off the full line is when a front dipstick is used on the side position? I would like to know how far I am off till I can find the right dipstick.
I broke the dipstick on my 92 f-150. I went to the Ford Dealer and they ordered me the entire tube that came with the dip stick. It is just plug and play on the driver side block. Unless they welded the hole up with something.
Best way to figure it out is to drain the oil from the pan and change the oil filter....Fill it back up to the amount your suppose to have...Mine takes 6qts total with filter. Although, I have an engine oil cooler on mine.
