Need Help with 302 Oil Dipstick and Tube
My original dipstick tube got crushed so I ordered a new one. The number I ordered is Ford Racing Performance Parts M-6750-C303 which is listed for 83-93 Ford 302 but it is nothing like the old dipstick tube and has a bracket at the top that is supposed to attach to something...but what? The new tube and dipstick is a lot longer than the old one. Anybody familiar with this or have a picture of how the tube fits?
I don't have a picture of the old one but here is the one I got from Ford Racing. It's a lot longer and has a different curve in it from the original....
The old dipstick doesn't even come out the end of this tube.

Ford 302 have used two different oil dipstick tubes over the years. The older style I believe goes in the bottom of the timing cover or maybe the pan near the front not sure.
The later style is what you bought that press fits into the block on the drivers side right above the oil pan rail about 1/2 way back towards the firewall. That bracket bolts to one of the exhaust bolts for the header.
FMS use to sell both styles back in the day don't know now.

Ford produced several different dipsticks and tubes over the years, depending on the application. You really need to figure out which one you have. Someone at your local for dealer parts department should be able to help you figure out what you need. You can then order the appropriate pieces from them.

60's and 70's front sump car pans had the dip stick in the timing cover. Truck applications with the mid sump did something different. In the late 70's and up until the end of the 302 production in 1995, the dip stick went either into the side of the block or the oil pan, again depending on year and application. Those are just the ones I know about. Chances are, there are plenty of others.

There are, at least 50 different 302 engine oil dipsticks from 1968 thru 1996, probably at least that many different tubes, I kid you not.
Look on the original, there should be a Ford ID engineering number stamped on the dipstick, will include 6750
If by chance there is no ID number, post the application for the little charmers. I need to know exactly what 1985 FoMoCo vehicle the engine came from.

Yep, that's the one you need. Front sumps were used well into the 70s in Granadas, Monarchs and such, not to mention the LTDs and other full-sized cars. . The Mustang II was also a front sump, but like everything else on the V8 version of that car, it was specific to the Mustang II. The birth of the new Fox Mustang platform as well as the LTDIIs, T-birds and such of the 80s killed the use of the front sump pan.
If you are running a front sump pan, then that dipstick is what you want. That looks like a Trans-Dapt chrome stick, I've used many of them.

Last LTD II = 1979.
1977/79 LTD II was the idiotic and confusing name FoMoCo gave the Torino replacement. It was a PITA because the deck lid emblems tiny II was superimposed over the much larger LTD. Many peeps didn't see the II.
Confused the hell out of body shops, many ordered parts for an LTD, when in fact the car was an LTD II. We caught on fast, asking if the "LTD" had vertical dual headlamps (LTD II) or horizontal dual headlamps (LTD).
FoMoCo changed the name LTD to Crown Victoria in 1982, then in 1983 introduced new Ford LTD/Mercury Marquis mid sized Fox body cars. Both were produced thru 1986.
