a few weeks ago i lost the speedometer and the abs light came on.
6 hours later when i got home i tried diagnosing it, but everythign worked. yesterday, the same thing. no speedo or odometer, abs light is on, and the OD off light is flashing.
but the trans still works fine, going through all 5 gears and torque converter lockup. plus, pushing tho OD button turn OD off, hit it again and OD engages again. (the truck has a 5 speed allison trans in it)
i put the scanner on it and got No response from module for the ABS module, the GEM/central timer, and Hybrid electronic cluster.
there are no trouble codes, but it did show P0500 vehicle speed sensor A
this afternoon on the way home, the speedometer and odometer came on and worked for .4 miles, then went out again.
anyone have any ideas where i should start?
well, it looks like this is water related. it was a hot sunny day today after 3 days of rain, and on the way home the ABS and OD lights went out and the speedometer started working again.
Not sure. ABS and VSM are tied to cluster but don't know if they go straight to DLC or thru cluster to DLC. Diagram from 99 model attached, but lots of changes to 2002 MY so perhaps not relevant.
and i should also add, i don't care one bit that the abs don't work, i would like to completely disable it permanently. this is the only vehicle i drive that has working abs (when it works) and i hate the brakes on this truck. it takes almost twice as far to stop than the older trucks without abs and they weigh more too.
the only concern is the lack of speedometer and cruise control.
