1982 c6 wont downshift
I was on my way to work today and my transmission stopped downshifting when i come to a stop, it just stays in third and i have to put it in first then baxk into drive. I also had to manualy up shift twice because two different tines when i put it into first then bacn into drive it stayed in first and wouldnt shift up. I also had it happen once where i shifted it into first then back into drive and it whent straight back up into third right away
I checked the tranny fluid when i got to work and it was at the full line but i should mention that it was light pink and pretty thin. There was also some white bubbles on the dipstick and it was pretty hot, not scorching hot but it was pretty hot.
Any guesses as to what it could be? Thanks in advance for any replies

I would start by checking the level. When cold the level should be between the holes on the stick, when hot it should be on the hatched area.
It's very important not to over fill. remove oil if over full
Then decide if the pan should be dropped and the filter changed.
Also the radiator can be removed and have the transmission fluid cooler checked for leaks at the radiator shop, and it won't hurt to have the radiator boiled/cleaned out.

I dont think its got the tranny cooler setup on it, the po definately hacked some stuff on this truck so he very well may have removed it idk, i checked the level and it was a tiny bit low so i tooped it off with some sea foam.
Its now downshifting when i come to a complete stop but not if i slow down around a corner, the kickdown is not attached but i know woth my 88 diesel with the c6 downshifts itself when i go around a corner slow, i dont have to mash on it to get the kickdown to knock it down a gear.
One last thing i should mention is that the first shift of the day i always have to manual shift the first shifts of the day , from first to second and second to third.
Thanks for the replies and any more recomendations

Little update i was on the way to work this morning and i had to brake hard to stop where i needed too, after breaking hard i whent to continue and i was getting nothing. At first i thought iyt was stuck in third again so i downshifted to first but still nothing. I tried going through all the gears but had nothing until i put it in neutral then into reverse and i got reverse, i then trued first again and it was back as well as the other gears.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again

So the trannys definately fubar, slips every gear can only get it to engage right when i start it in the morning.
I can drive about twenty mins until the vehicle warms up then the gears slip and im stuck on the side of the road, does this sound like i need new bands? Or could my filter possibly be clogged? Thanks for any advice
