current to starter relay

Any idea how much current goes threw the ignition switch to the starter relay?

I don't know the answer but am curious as to what prompted your question?

Not sure of the actual amount but it's not going to be a whole lot. My guess (and that's all it is) would be in the 5-7 amp range.
Starter current itself doesn't flow through the ignition switch. The only current that flows through the switch is enough to engage the solenoid.
Like HIO said, what prompts the question?

I meant the starter relay that activates the solenoid. I was going to make a remote starter switch using a 5v relay module. Thanks for the replies.

There isn't a separate relay besides the solenoid on these trucks...

(Technically, a solenoid is an electrical coil that is used to move something; a relay is an electrical switch actuated by a solenoid - what we call the "starter solenoid" is a solenoid-actuated relay for the starter motor. They're the same thing.)

If I remember right, it was around 500mA to 800mA to power the starter relay/solenoid. I wanted to know to be sure if my EFI could power an RV one or not. The biggest thing to worry about these relays is the flyback voltage causing problems on the switching side. A Flyback Diode will save the contacts in the extra relay OP wishes to use because that current will be dumped though to ground and not through the switch contacts.

Also prevents or quiets relay *snap* when using the radio.

edit: When building your own EFI, you learn sumptin' about things like this
