surfing around on YouTube tonight, I found the guy who is using car gauge pro to do buzz tests. The app gets bad reviews due to the interface. it seems as if it can also scan the PCM for all the PID's

I used Car Gauge Pro for a buzz test, and it put my truck in a weird mode that made it sound terrible while driving. I had to clear everything by doing a KOEO test with AutoEnginuity. My situation could have been a fluke.
I'm still a newbie, but I've learn a lot in the process of getting my truck road worthy. I use torque pro for monitoring during start up and on the road. I use car gauge pro strictly for buzz test and cylinder contribution tests. The interface on torque is more user friendly, but car gauge looks like it could be just as good of a tool if you spend the time playing with it. Seems that the experts here favor torque as monitiring system. Both are good low cost solutions if you're a guy like me that can't afford an auto ingenuity or other high end tool. Thats my .02
CGP could be a great tool if the author would pay someone to design an interface that didn't suck, and implement better error handling routines. For example, if the Bluetooth adapter isn't powered up, it throws and displays a Java exception message instead of telling the user it can't find the adapter. I've never had a problem with it doing what it's supposed to do; it runs the tests just fine and pulls codes without setting a MIL or killing the engine. If it was better designed, I might even prefer it over Torque Pro.

Pikachu,
Will the free CGP Lite version scan fault codes? Perhaps if we can get some traction with the FTE community, we can incent the developer to make some improvements??

Torque seems to throw an SES light, kills engines, and doesn't show fault codes for many FTE members. My guess (which I was hoping to validate in another thread) is that certain PCMs cause the problem.
That said, even if I could validate that guess (1) I don't know if Torque developers can fix it, and (2) I don't know if we can get traction with the Torque developer given the number of users they have.
I do like the Torque interface more than CGP.
Please post in the other thread whether Torque causes you problems when you pull fault codes and what your PCM code is.
Not sure what code my pcm is (or if it's easily found)
It does kill engine, I no longer run it if pulling
Here's link to thread if others want to add...
So I tried CGP lite this evening. Apparently the lite version does read trouble codes. That said, CGP (like Torque) also tripped my SES lite. WTF???
Feedback????
When I started playing with Torque I had the same issue where my truck would stumble or die. I changed my adapter to the ScanTool MX adapter and all issues were resolved, response improved and the "sleep" mode was welcomed.
It could be your adapter, it's the only common part of our situation since you've used both Torque Pro and CGP.
