my 2008 f-150 xlt 4x4 has a squealing noise on the right front, sounds like bad brake pads when you apply the brakes but,it's not that. The noise only happens when i have my foot on the throttle, take my foot of the gas,it stops. thought it was the heat shield but it's not. In neutral, give it the gas & nothing so i'm stumped!! Brakes & rotors are fine, so what the hell could it be??? Also, 2006 to 2009 F-150 owners ALERT, My rack & pinion blew & Ford would not sell me one, got inside info. that theres a problem with the racks in these yrs. & Ford is trying everything they can to avoid a recall. So,my 2008 $38,000 truck could not get a replacement from Ford, had to get a Cardone. What a BOGUS CO.. Save your receipts if you have to buy a replacement rack because there will be a recall.
Thanks for the rack heads up. My rack has an input shaft seal leak and a bit of freeplay in one spot, only when the wheels are straight. I was debating taking it out, maybe I will leave it in for a bit.
I guess the longer they wait, the fewer of those trucks are on the road. But I noticed a slight leak on mine too, and it only has 18K miles. Not a drip, just wet around the diver's side end.
I'm stumped on the 'squeal' but whatever it is, the difference between 'Neutral' and 'Drive' is probably the key to solving it.
