Running Board Lights

Hey guys. So, I just bought some lights to mount on my running boards, that I want wired into the running lights. Where's the easiest spot to splice the wire in.? It's on an 06 F250 crew cab long bed. Any responses appreciated.!

I would run the wire up to the engine compartment and tab into the parking light wire.

Engine compartment is nice because the splice is fairly protected from weather and you can work on it without crawling under the truck.

I believe I tapped into my 2005 in the door sill wires, then went though a hole I drilled above the running board on one side. I will check and post back a pic.

I'm sure there are other and/or better ways but that was expedient.

I installed one 3/4" amber LED with a clear lens into each support for the running boards on my 2006 F250 CCSB (3 lights on each side, 6 total). Each side has a harness that runs along the frame rail to the respective tail light to tie in for power. I decided to run each side independently so that diagnosing any future problems or servicing the wiring would be simplistic. I suggest doing the same, just tap the parking light wire at the tail light. Take your time on running the wires and making sure all your splices and connections are proper though; the first time I ran mine I took a few shortcuts and they didn't last a month (granted this was heading into the legendary Boston winter we just had), and I ended up completely rewiring them with lots of loom, tape, and heat shrink. Everything has been perfect ever since, of course, time will tell….
