Running board lights

At a local car swap meet I recently purchased a set of running boards for a F250 2005 King ranch CC and installed them on my 2000 F350 CC. Is there an easy connection somewhere to tap into fot the 12V to power the lights on the running boards when I disarm the alarm, say one of the dome lights? They bolted up perfectly, just would be nice to have an easy solution for the lights?

My running boards are tapped into the parking lights. When I arm/disarm my alarm, the boards flash, too. It looks pretty slick. The wires are pretty easy to connect to near the headlights, but you could trace them in the harness if you don't want to run that much wire.

There is a wire at the drivers side floor, kick panel.I guess thats what you would call it lol.Open the door and the plastic piece where you get in the truck.Lift the piece off and there are a bunch of wires under there.Get a test light and test the wires one by one.The one that has power(engine and key off,but door open) will be the one that you want.I did it,just dont remember the wire color.

I "think" it's black with a light blue trace

You would want the parking lights. It is a brown wire and can be found in the harness's that run along the frame rail. If you don't want to open the harness in the middle, you can follow them up to the engine compartment and grab them by the harness connector (basically under the brake master cylinder)

I just check my wiring diagram, looks like CmprSpecial is right. Black w/LtBlue trace. Book doesn't tell me where to get though. BTW - what's up Bill? (Thanks again).

I think the lights he's wanting to illuminate are the white ones at the fronts of each board, to light it so you can see it. Not the normal "running board lights" you'd think of. The king ranch models have these in the ends.

I also think the black/blue wire is the correct one, if memory serves.

Just grab that lower trim step piece, and pull up... all the wires are under there. Should be one on each side, for the dome light - use that.

Ahh, sorry I did not understand that these were white lights.

I have the KR model and it is wired w/ the black w/ blue tracer (dome lights).

Any of you put LED's on your running boards? Like running lites?
