Which coolant bought other than at Ford is suitable for the 2000 7.3L?
Is there a coolant supplement available other than FW-16?

Ford recommends to add about 8 oz of coolant additive every 15,000 miles. You can also test the concentration with test strips designed for this purpose. In another forum, it was stated they got their strips @ $16 for 50 from Navistar. I get mine from work ( I service a fleet of diesel trucks), so I do'nt know of any better deals on test strips at this time. As for additive, I use WixCool from my local auto parts store.

Look into evans waterless cooling. Do a search and read up on it. Never have to use additives. I have been using it for quite awhile now in 100+ deg weather and no problems. check it out.

Ok. The PSD's up to and including the 2001 model's have regular old antifreeze in them. Our owners manuals tell us not to use the ELC.
Starting sometime in the 02 model year Ford switched to the extended life coolant, so you guys with the newer trucks have the gold stuff.
I run the Evans, so I'm done with maintaining SCA's and coolant changes.........forever.
