egr tubing

so my egr valve has taken a crap on me. tried cleaning it and everything and still wont work. its stuck closed so only getting a code for it not opening (code 33) runs like a top still if not better for some reason. anyways......im redoing my intake gaskets again since i used the old bolts and didnt retorque so im wondering if anyone knows the size of the hole where the egr valve tube goes into the manifold. im just ganna plug it already instead of just spending more $$$ on a egr valve. no emissions here and already have the smog crap taken out. so if anyone knows the thread size of the hole for the egr tube please let me know. thanks guys

A stuck closed EGR valve may throw a code but it won't have any negative effect that you would notice on engine operation. That said your problem is more likely a broken vacuum line between the valve and control solenoid, or a bad solenoid. Did you try applying vacuum directly to the valve to see if it would open. With the engine running at idle if you have some extra rubber hose and connect it momentarilly between the valve and a spare port on the vacuum tree it should open and the engine will stumble if there is nothing but exhaust gas getting in. If you just want to plug it then cut a piece of sheet metal and sandwich it between the valve and intake.

yeah i took a port off the vacuum tree that i had plugged and used that and no change. i took the egr valve off and cleaned it...wasted a whole can of carb cleaner. ill just go ahead and use the block plate idea.....however since its stuck closed could i just leave it as is with no block plate?

That suggests the diaphram inside the valve is torn so it is possible air or exhaust could leak past it eventually.. better to block it off or replace it completely.
