My 2012 F-250 6.2L with no engine mods decided to play dead yesterday.
I turned the key (in the ignition switch) and the only sound was a click-click from the passenger side fuse box. Tried again - same result. Moved shift lever to Neutral and tried - no sound. Went back to Park and tried again - same click-click from fuse box. (two clicks then silence)
Checked the 15 amp ignition fuse - good, but replaced it anyway.
Tried again - same results as before.
Checked a 10 amp fuse in fuse box under the hood as well as the 40 amp relay fuse for ignition/run - - both good.
Tried to start the truck again - same result. One more try before getting irritated ..... it started !
Called dealer service rep and asked if he had seen this problem before and his response was - "No, not on any of the 6.2L trucks." Great. Just what I wanted to hear, I have something going on that has not been seen before. Not a good feeling.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience with their 2011/2012/2013 6.2L truck(s). I'm interested in knowing what, if any findings were.
My 2014 was doing that. After numerous trips to the dealer it turned out the pcm was bad. If your truck continues to act up without throwing a code it could be the same problem.
My 2015 6.2L did a similar thing last month...3400 miles on the clock.. In park it would not turn over..(dead).. tried it a few more times and it final started... problem did not come back.. yet..
Mine hesitated for about 1 1/2 seconds after turning the key before the engine turned over today. Something tells me it will quit firing when I am far from home one day. Nothing like having confidence in a truck.
My 14 has done that about three times, go out in the morning ,hit the key,and nothing. All three times has been the same problem, Look done and see the parking lights have been left on.lol can`t believe they don`t have an auto cut off.
