I want to thank everyone for the input. I am going to take your advice and get the CAT Scale this week and do the calculations. I believe that I'll be okay, but want to take it a step further and back it up.

Thanks for all the good information. I appreciate the help.

John let us know your weights after you get them, some believe it's better to error on the side of caution and others will walk the the line till something happens and then blame somebody else for the mishap. Goodluck

Yes, I too look forward to your numbers John. I also look forward to continuing to walk the line but won't be holding my breath for something to happen. I also don't fear being struck by lightning or anything else that will likely never happen. Some are better served hiding in their cellar because it's a scary scary world out there.

You're much more likely to get in a towing accident when towing. So, to prevent this 100%, sell your RV and stay home. I guarantee you'll be real safe then. It's funny how those who go through life afraid need to recruit more of their own through fear mongering to justify their existence.... if only to themselves. Sad really.

So, super trucker? Nah. I just hook up and drive and leave the worrying to the nanny types on the RV forums. They have enough to go around. I will drop in here to balance out the foolishness though. XXOO.

PS: Read RV Tech's blog post about RV accidents and learn from someone who actually took the time to look up stats.

I would still be towing with my 08 F250 if it weren't for the wife's back and Texas and Arkansas roads.

I didn't need to upgrade to the drw either.

Good plan. Bilstein 5100's did wonders for my truck. If you go with Air Lift brand airbags, DO NOT get the ones with the internal jounce bumpers. They will make contact every time you hit a bump and make for a jarring unloaded ride when aired down.

No body has mentioned tires ratings so far, I know in the past that the axle ratings on the rear between the F350 and F250 SRW were directly related to the tire rating. I haven't looked onto the 2011 and newer but on the SD before that if you looked at your tire weight rating and take it times two you would get your axle rating posted on the door post, is this still true?

Unless you get a toy hauler the 20% of the gross trailer weight will be close to the pin weight, toy haulers normally carry more weight in the back of the trailer so yo will have less pin weight with them so plan on 3000 to 3200 pin weight when fully loaded.

We have a elevator in town that leaves the scale on so I have played with pin weights and this is what I have found.

1 Don't plan on transferring any weight to the front axle, you may only get 100 lbs at the most, I get 0.

2 You have to keep your truck level when hooked up or you will transfer weight off the front to the rear axle, I confirmed this by letting air out of my air bags and reweighing.

3 Moving weight out of the basement area with make almost no difference depending on where the trailer axles are located unless you are caring rocks in there

One other thing to look at that is overlooked by most are the trailer brakes, are they big enough to stop the trailer because your truck will not stop a load that load for long. Most dealers won't order trailer with upgraded brakes because it adds cost with no eye appeal, if it has the standard 12x2 bakes walk away or order one with upgraded brakes, I would prefer 13" disk with that size of trailer and 2 axles.

If you want to use your F250 this is what I would recommend.
Upgrade all the shocks, I like Monroe Gas magnums for the most bang for the buck.
Check your tire rating, you may have to change tires and go to a wider wheel to get a higher tire rating.
Install Air bags with a compressor so you can adjust for the road conditions on the fly.

Yes, the 250 has the same LRE tires as a 350 with a combined rating of 7500 which is more than the 7k of the axle.
