Redhead Steering Group Buy

Some of the guys in the 7.3 diesel section are looking to do a group buy on Redhead Steering Gearboxes. I'm justing checking in here to see what the interest is so that we can do a coordinated group buy to hit the magic number of 36 pieces. If we hit 36 pieces or more then it is $60 discount on parts over $300 and $50 discount on parts under $300.

Lets get the ball rolling on this. Post up if you are in.

I'm gonna give this 2-3 weeks to gauge interest and collect a list of interested buyers. Once we have a solid list, then I'll schedule our three day buying window with Redhead Steering. Unfortunately it is only a 3 day window to buy at this discount once we are scheduled. If we do not meet the 36 pieces requirement then I'll check with all interested parties if they would like to continue at a lower discount.

Why buy a redhead steering box that only has a limited warranty for premium dollars when you can go to your local parts house and get the same thing without any red paint for many dollars less and a lifetime warranty?

JHMO but don't make sense to me.

because the Red-Head steering box is a top quality part. I have one installed on my full size bronco and it drives better than a new box from any of the auto parts stores.

I highly doubt they are any better than a new gear box from Ford or a parts store. I can not see the price justification and no lifetime warranty making it that better of a part.

I LOVE mine and I'm very pleased with the added cost, well worth it to me and the steering is far far better than the stock one was. FWIW, I drove a 97 Tahoe that wandered EVEN more then the Excursion did, but in windy days on the interstate I couldn't stay in the lane, NOW I can drive with a couple of fingers.

Because the Redhead is machined to accept needle bearings instead of bushings.

Because each worm gear is hand matched.

Because each ball in the case is sized to match the box.

Because you don't get any of this in a parts store or factory unit.

Count me in if you get enough people together. Rebuilt the whole front end (redhead box, Nergy Bushings, ball joints, tie rods, etc) about 100k ago, and it was amazing the difference. A bunch of miles and a pothole later, and it's time to do it all again. (The pothole was deep enough at 70 mph to bend a tie rod, eat a ball joint and cause the front tire to delaminate.)

I can fouch for the fit and level of customer service from Redhead.

I had a 1999 F350 that had horrible steering. I jumped on one of these group buys and put a red head box on it. I picked it up locally and met with the guys. The red head box was amazing and it cleaned up all of the slop in my box. No issues at all with it and it was a very high quality. They company stood behind their product and they were all about making sure I was pleased with my purchase. I HIGHLY recommend their product. I will be using one when my new truck gets to the point of needing one.

Looking like a good group buy. We have 40+ people on the list. I'll sign up for our window on Tuesday of next week. Hopefully we can get a few more guys or gals to sign up. I'll post dates of the window times and procedures along with PM's to everyone on the list.

Ok, everybody who said they are in and for those who are still on the fence.

We are scheduled to make our purchase from July 8th-10th. You can order online or by phone. it's important that you tell RHS that you are part of the Ford-Truck forum group buy. If you order online you will still need to contact RHS via email or phone and let them know that you ordered and are part of the Ford-Truck forum group buy.

If your name is not on the list, don't worry. You can still get the discount as long as you purchase during the specified buying dates and you mention that you are part of the Ford-Truck forum group buy.

Still not worth the extra dollars and limited warranty when you can pay much less for the same gear box the factory installs and it is warrantied for life. So, if one has to buy a second steering gear box, then don't complain about it.

I'd appreciate it if you would keep your comments to the point of this topic. If you want to get in on a group buy, let us know otherwise start your own thread.

thanks
