Why do any of you think you can improve on the specifications of these motors? The Ford engineers had decades of experience with engine temperature. It is 180*
There is more to engine temperature than a warm cab.
Thank you, HIO.

correct direction

Hi all,

I am surprised that nobody so far has warned about putting the thermostat in backwards. I learned the hard way by doing it wrong. I think these FE's lead one to think it's going in correctly when it's really backwards....and a backwards thermostat can cause big headaches as well.

cheers,

Well... if your motor heats up to 210* with a 195* thermostat, it will do the same with a 180, 160, or no t-stat at all.

Ah yes this has been cover many times before.

Many people have done this the same thing as you, a common mistake.

This is why, I recommend to most guys that come to site to buy a motor manual that covers the Fe motors..

A many guys go to youtube to find all the info they need and don't want to spring loose with any bucks to buy one.

So some learn the hard way.

Putting a thermostat in backwards is a rite of growing up with engines. We have all done it- once.
Yeah, Orich.
