Fifth Wheel hitch B&W ??

Hello,
Looking to buy a new hitch for me truck and was thinking about the B&W Companion 20K/5K. I saw on a posting somewhere that somebody posted that they had problems with the handle that opens the jaws hitting their tool box. I can't seem to find the posting again so I have to ask the question. You guys with a long box does this hitch hit your in bed tool box? What about if you have a combination fuel tank/ tool box in bed.

Have you checked out this hitch? https://www.andersenhitches.com/Prod...l-version.aspx

Good up to 23,000 and is easy to remove from the truck. Nice and light - about 50#. Lots of room between the hitch and the front of the bed. Oh yeah...much less $ than the B&W. Real quiet ride also!

No problem with the tool box. There is still over a foot of clearance. Not sure about with a transfer tank. Depends on the size...

Bud I was just looking at that setup. I went B&W to keep my bed floor clean and not have rails, so to me that is the way to go. But the setup sounds nice still.

Love my BW. Works great with the Ford prep package and was considerably cheaper than the Reese.

I have plenty of clearance between the handle and my truck box. Mine is a long bed.

They also have the goose type.

So if you have the disappearing goose ball in the pickup this model would work and keep the bed clean.

Fifth Wheel hitch B&W ??

When I bought our 2013 I wanted to go to a B&W but the handle would hit my second tool box so I stayed with my Reese, as you can see I have a lot of tool boxes. First box is a aux tank/tool box and the second a standard box.

Hi Denny,
Can you clarify for me which toolbox the B&W hitch handle would hit? I don't have side toolboxes. I am just thinking about purchasing an auxiliary tank/toolbox for behind the cab. I have a long bed.
Thanks,
Brice

Man, Oh Man, Oh Man!

I am really under the gun now. Sold my old 7.3 so now I don't have a fifth wheel hitch in a truck. My new truck doesn't have the prep package in it. I figured I would have time to add the new hitch. My wife went and looked at a Voltage V series 3605 and made an offer on it today. The dealership accepted her offer so now I have to have a hitch in the truck by Friday.

Can't decide if I should go with the B&W turn-over ball companion set up or the Reese puck under bed and buy the B&W puck hitch.

Help me decide in a hurry please.

What kind of truck do you have? I assume the old 7.3L that you say you sold is the truck in your signature. A hitch recommendation comparing the factory hitch prep that you don't have versus an all aftermarket set up depends on the year and model of your newer truck. And bed type/length.

If you have a long bed and a 2011 or up truck, go with Reese under the bed mount. I purchased a Reese Elite 23 K hitch and I am well satisfied with it.

It's the one in front of the hitch, in the front of the PU box is the aux tank and then a second toolbox right behind it so I don't have much clearance between the hitch and the second box. The B&W release handle goes forward so it would hit the second box.

The B&W will fit fine in a long box with a standard size tool box. So if that's what you want go for it!
