The factory assigned number is on a card that is included in your owners manual packet.

Look in your owners manual packet. Your old number will be listed on your card so you don't have to change it and the manual list the procedures for adding a second number that might be easier for you to remember

Call the dealer you bought from, they have it on file and will tell it to you. I had to do it too!

Thanks, I found the default number card on the back of my owner's manual binder and was able to change my PIN.

I'm late to the party. Here is what i have learned when i bought my 06 a couple of weeks ago. I stopped at the store RIGHT after i left the sellers place, locked the doors and realized my phone and another item was in clear sight. The key did not operate the door and the fob did not unlock the door. Yes, i put in a new battery too.
06 body style, the key code is on a sticker way up under the dash on the firewall behind the radio and to the left.
08 and up the tag is located behind the right kick panel near the fuel pump relay.
I googled to find this info. as well as i was told Ford would charge me $75 for the info.
That event turned a good buying experience a and evening of cussing

On 2011 and up SD, you can find the code if you have two programmed keys. You turn the first key to on and then off, within 5 seconds, insert second key and turn to on and once the displace clears, it will show the code.

The keypad really exposes how many don't read their manuals or even look thru the books supplied.

I brought my 2011 home brand new and just few minutes from the dealer and locked the keys in. I didn't program the keyless for my own code. So I called the dealer and they gave me the trucks generic code over the phone. Once I got in guess what I did first thing. Ha.

LOL I did read the manuals thoroughly when I bought the truck and I have referenced them many times. But at my age, I'm lucky to remember my name - let alone everything in the two manuals.

My memory is lousy too so I write down the code on a piece of scrap paper and carry in the wallet, figure I'm not going to be out in the truck without the wallet.

I keep a spare key in my wallet so that I can at least open the door...
