You can't change the factory programmed number, you can add a personal number. If you have your owners manual it will be in there as to how to do it. I can't remember which two pads you have to push and don't have a vehicle with that feature right now to check the manual for you, sorry.

thanks for the info!!! Since this is factory set, is there any way that i can deactivate this feature for a while? (trying to keep disgruntled ex-girlfriend from getting into my truck)

The factory number will always work no matter what. If you follow the procedure in the owners manual you can add your own personal code which will work, but the factory code will still work as well. You could probably unplug the module which should disable the system. My 06 SD has the module under the dash, below the radio.
