My hood pop up spring broke. It broke yesterday when I opened my hood so a friend and I could work on something.
I've been trying the last few months to get my truck back on the road. So, I'm trying to find another spring to replace the one that broke off.
First off- what is this part actually called? And where can I get another?
Second- I didn't close my hood the whole way yesterday after we were done working- if I close it- will my hood easily open, or should I just not fully close it?
Thanks for the help/suggestions.
I was just at be Carlisle show yesterday- wish this spring would of broke beforehand so I could of looked around for one!
Here you go, one hood assist spring. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-1979-Ford-Truck-NOS-Hood-Assist-Spring-F100-F150-F250-F350-Pickup-/191588779252?hash=item2c9b94c4f4&vxp=mtr
Oh this part "Assist Spring" #16C644 ...local JY and maybe ck out some 80's ish trucks, that might work?
$40 for that ebay one, ouch. LMC part #40-3132 for $5.95
I would think you can close the hood all the way, it might just take a little more work to get the hood open. Like you holding the release handle and a person lifting on each corner??
