I want to separate my turn signals from my brake lights on the rear of my truck. Has anyone done anything like this before? Not necessarily amber inserts, but at least separating brakes and turn. Or maybe keeping the turn brake combos that are there and adding a dedicated brake light? Any thoughts?
You may want to try someplace like etrailer.com I know they sell separators so the brake lights and tail lights are on different circuits, the only problem that causes is if you pull a trailer, you'll then have to by a matching separator to wire to your trailer too. Not quite sure how it all works but it's a start for you.
Careful when messing with the brake circuit if you have a E4OD. The torque converter lockup is also on the same circuit and you can fry thing's messing with the stock wiring.
look into the Brazilian trucks I am pretty sure they have something similar but it has an amber turn signal. May be able to bake the lens off the housing to make it look one piece but have 3 socket. Then use the brake light socket on one and the turn signal socket on another.
The way I am explaining it probably sounds more complex then it really is but I am not sure how else to explain it.

If you want to leave the stock lights and add extra BRAKE lights you should be able to feed them off of the 3rd brake light on the cab or off of the brake light switch itself.
The 92-94 Econoline E-Series vans had amber rear turn signals. Look up the schematic for that on bbbind.com

That's what I'm going to do I think. I'm probably going to run LED panels to the rear, have the traditional stop/turn combo on top, then go straight brakes on the bottom half.
