AE compatibility question

Will my AE read codes from a Chebby Dinali wihout a special bundle for GM? Not sure of the year of rig ( late 90's to mid 2000's) but I bought the AE about 3 years ago.

It will work as a Generic Code Reader without bi-directional communications.

You'll need the GM bundle to use it to its full potential - but like hydro man 17 said, it makes an OK code reader until then.

Thanks for the replies. She lives on a very limited income and would hate to see her pay someone to clear a code just to get registration.

If you're needing a code cleared for emissions purposes, keep in mind that many vehicles have to go through certain conditions and/or cycles without an error code pending or stored before it will pass.

...at least it is that way here in PA where the legislators conspired with (okay, "owned interest in the primary contracting company") emissions providers

AE can usually check for OBDII readiness in OBDII compliant vehicles. I don't know if that requires an "enhanced" license for the manufacturer or not...
