I am looking to upgrade the stock turbo in my truck. i am looking for a good turbo without spending too much money by paying for a brand name. what difference would it be if i just upgraded the turbo wheel vs both the turbo wheel and housing? what is the best turbo wheel?

 

You won't see a drastic difference with just the wheel alone. It will definitely help with surge if that is a problem you are experiencing, but power or boost changes are very minor.

The ported compressor housing is also for eliminating surge. No power gain there.

Changing the turbine housing will render different results. Larger housings tend to be more laggy on the bottom end, but are nice in higher RPM situations. Vice versa for a smaller housing. The perfect one for most people, IMO, is the 1.0.

Are you looking to get more power with these turbo mods, or just beef the turbo up? It is hard to achieve any more power without adding more fuel (larger injectors).

 

Can you share some more info about the truck? Is everything stock? Have any mods been done to the truck? Does it have a tuner? Etc etc etc. I rebuilt my turbo last summer with the ww2 and a wastegate controller, I saw quicker spool up and better pulling thru the mid range.... even though still on stock injectors, you can see the other mods in my signature...
