Ok so i got a 1996 bronco with the 5.8 auto, i was out on a trail with it and a stick came up and sheared off most of the neutral safety switch, so no start in park or n, drove it home and then since then i have replaced the switch 2 times it only starts in park not neutral and is shifting really hard. If i disconnect the sensor it shifts close to normal, any ideas what may be wrong? The switch inner check line is centered on the cl N notch when truck is in neutral
Check resistance values in each position. The MLPS provides varying voltage back to the ECM for each gear selection. If any are out of the range specified you will have problems.
Ok thank you i will check resistance, another thing i forgot to mention is that the truck has a winters art carr gate shifter it pulls the linkage from the other side than the stock one. Maybe thats causing misalignment between gears somehow?

Is there any way the sensor would be mounted reversed or differently because of that shifter? I wish i could have seen the old one but there wasnt much of it left
