Neutral Safety Switch Problems

Neutral Safety Switch Problems
I have a 79 Ford F 150 Automatic 2 wheel drive. It would start in any gear. So I replaced the NSS. I then tried to start my truck but had nothing at the ignition switch. The NSS not only would not let the truck start in gear, but not in park or neutral either. Any ideas as to what I need to do so the neutral safety switch works correctly?

In 78 moved the NSS from the column to the side of transmission
You have top go down to the transmission and set the NSS to thre correct position.
It requires a 7/16" or /2" wrench.and drill bit.
Chock tires
Place trans lever in neutral
Loosen Trans lever at transmission
Turn NSS and slide 1/8" drill bit into NSS until it goes thru the switch
Tighten NSS
Remove drill bit
Start in Neutral or Park

I will try that.... I forgot to mention that there was a jumper wire wired into the harness connecting to 2 pins....I guess to defeat the original safety switch.. The ignition switch was also replaced. I was wondering if something could be wrong here.
But I will try what you explained with positioning of the switch and drill bit. Thanks
