Which model / floormat question

Hey guys. I have a buddy I want to get done floormats for. He has a 79 Ford. My question is...

"was there only one type of truck back then, and if so, what was it?"

You know how today if you said 2015 Ford truck, you'd have about 10 different options?

What I know... it's a single cab... That's about it. A wiki search showed it either looked like it would be a f100/f150 or an f250. Not sure though, which is why I'm posting here, and then secondly, what would be some good coverage floormats for it? Mostly concerned with coverage and not originality or style.

Thanks so much in advance!

P.S. - his birthday is this week.

Brett

73-79 F100/F150/F250/F350 floor pans pretty much all the same design. Only real difference is if it has a tall center hump trans cover? Is it 4x4 with a transfer case lever and or a 4 spd?

If you are getting just floor mats for in front of the driver and passenger side, standard size will work. Most auto stores/Walmart carry the one in this pic.

If you are trying to order him some Husky Liners, Weather Tech, or Dee Zee style that go from one side to the other, I doubt they make them for these old trucks?

Husky's web site shows they carry them for a 70's trucks, but not a Ford.

Like Rich said, they're all pretty much the same. The '73-'79 F100 through F350 models all share the same floor pan. The only difference is whether you have a low or high hump version. It's easy to tell which you have. Look at the center hump between the driver and passenger side. If it has a removable cover, you have the high hump version. If there is no removable center section, the floor pan is all one piece from door to door, then you have the low hump version.

The accessory full width rubber floor mats offered 1965/79, had lines on their backside. Cutting along these lines gave you two individual mats, the center section was tossed away.

I never cared for these accessory mats, or any others prior to 1992. The only accessory individual rubber mats that I cared about were introduced in 1992.

These were used thru 1996 on F150/350 & Bronco, have a checkerboard pattern in black - blue - red - tan with the Blue Oval emblem on them.

Thank you all for your replies.

It appears they don't make ones that cover both sides and the hump all together - which is most disappointing.

But alas, it is what it is. Your responses were most appreciated!

I Just received mats that have engineering number D9TJ-8113086-AB. They are black. Are these the D9TZ-8113086-A ? What does the "J" stand for?
