Just bought my wife a new Super Crew F 150 King Ranch with everything on board. During the shopping process I also looked at a Lariat Super Duty with Nav and it had an aux input for video. The King Ranch F 150 has usb inputs but no video inputs. If I connect to the ports, the system looks for audio files. I would really like the video input because I run camera feeds from a horse trailer she pulls so she can see behind the trailer and inside the trailer when she is hooked up. Is there anyway to feed video thru the usb ports to the screen?
Page 441 of the owner's manual says you can play video from a device connected via USB. However, that device is expected to be a smartphone or somesuch, although I guess it is possible for a camera to be set up to look like a smartphone. In any event, it says you cannot play videos while the vehicle is in motion.
I plugged a USB web cam into the port and it didn't identify that anything was hooked up. More research is in order. On her 08' Lariat, I ran all new wire and a 7" screen mounted on the visor. I can do that again, it just seems like such a waste being everything is already in place except the input connection.
I've seen bluetooth backup cameras on the market: the monitor looks like a GPS, uses bluetooth to create the connection between camera and monitor. Not sure about the range, but I would think it would work from the back of the trailer to inside the cab.
