I ran into the same problem a few years ago. I restored my truck in the late 1990's when 33x12.50 16.5 tires were still fairly popular and widely available. Now that size is pretty much obsolete so the selection is very limited. The only ones I could find were the BF Goodrich All Terrain or Interco, neither of which I liked. I ended up switching to 16 inch rims. The closest metric equivalent is 305/70 R16 which converts to a 33x12. I mounted them on 16x10 rims. I don't like them quite as much as the old 33x12.50s because they look a little narrower, but its all I could do. Here's what the 305s on 16x10 rims look like on my truck:

Dadgummit that's a pretty truck. I don't think that anybody will notice that the tires are more narrow, but it is a shame they stopped making that size of tire just because some jack leg tried to put the wrong size tire on the rim and keep pumping it full of air until it blew up in his face. But that's what happens when lawyers run things.......very nice truck though.

Thanks I wish that size was still available too. They make 33x12.50s in 15 and 17 inch but not in 16. I thought about switching to 17 inch rims but they didn't make them in this style so I ended up going to 16. I was a little concerned they might rub the calipers on the inside of the rim but there was enough clearance they fit without any trouble.
