first off..
I bought a"get me by" 1989 F250 2WD 351w E4OD trans truck a few months back after i had an accident in my 2000 F250 SD 7.3

I bought this truck on the cheap for something to use for hauling and towing light stuff until i get all the front clip parts for super duty.

This truck started having the common delay into gear on first starts in the morning,then ok through out the day.
I took the pan off,pulled the valve bodies and replaced the seperator plate gasket with a new one since this one disintegrated upon removal..snugged up the feed bolts,and it made everything a little better,..BUT..now reverse started getting a good delay.and now really slips in reverse,you have to rev it pretty good move,but all forward gears are doing good...

not into putting too much money in this ole beater because i'll get rid of it cheap when my super duty is fixed,,,a freind of a freind's cousin's aunt's husband (you get the picture..lol)..that has a good transmission out of a 96 F150 5.0 that he recently wrecked and totaled out...it's already out of the truck since he pulled the 5.0 for a mustang 5 speed project,he said he'd sell it to me for 175.00 to get me back on the road.
he is calling back tomorrow to verify it it is the E4OD or the 4R70W since we read that it could be either one of them..he's measuring the pan in the morning...

i know i read on one of these forums that the 96 E4OD's are updated and a much better trans than previous and would be a good swap with just a few mod's,such as needing to chang the pins on the shift solenoid...but i can't find the posts anywhere in detail so i can do this if the trans is the right one or incase i run into a newer E4OD for a swap if this is not a E4OD..
