Okay so I have a 1993 Ford F-250 V6 engine. Recently I replaced the power steering pump because of a nagging noise coming from it. Been about three days since I replaced it and the noise has gotten better but I still notice a little bit of squeal when I make a turn. I hear it's normal for it to make noise a few days after the install of a new one so I'm not too concerned but my question comes in regard to the fluid I've put into it. It's ATF type F fluid that I use. If your familiar with Bars Power Steering repair, it's something I bought to hopefully make the transition of a new pump a little easier, and hopefully do away with that little noise that persists with it.
So I haven't used the fluid yet because I don't know if I should mix it with the type f ATF fluid because, well it is a transmission fluid with a power steering type. Should I use transmission repair fluid instead if the noise doesn't go away? I saw a brand of that from Bars so that kind of got me thinking.
Here's the stuff I bought.
And here's the stuff I wonder if I should use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00092PXIS/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1432965469&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SY200_QL40&keywords=transmission+repair+fl uid&dpPl=1&dpID=41y348f5UxL&ref=plSrch
If you are getting a squeal on turns your belt may be slipping , usually a fluid issue is more of a whine all the time. In regards to additives, lucas has always been good, use the recommended fluid with it.
