Will not Start

My 2004 6.0 will not start. It cranks fine. History This happened once before about a year ago towed it into the shop and it stated fine.

The batteries were low yesterday and the truck would not start because the voltage was too low to run the starter. I charged them. Went to try again and I cranked it for close to 30 seconds with no results.

Only cods so far are #6 glow plug and EGR valve open.

Whats next, check the FICA?

HowieE,
I had the same problem yesterday in my 2003 6.0. However mine wouldn't even crank. If you have crank but no start, you could be looking at a list of problems. What other symptoms? There is a beautiful check list that you can go through to verify a lot of things that is in the search forum for "no start". Good luck. Please post what you find

Yes it would crank but for a short and ever weakening effort.
Charged all night and checked the SP of the batteries. Not a good set of batteries so off to get a few before going much further.

yeah batteries for sure. At least you can set that baseline. Then start for your alternator connections and so on. Bismic has some really good ideas in the tech folder

Not sure why 2 members have commented on Alternator connection for a none start issue. I can see that for battery charging after starting but can't see it as a question while cranking.

New battery are in at 11am Friday with a charger on them for an hour or 2 before I try to start. Got my fingers crossed.

OK

2 new batteries seam to have been the problem

One battery had one cell with a SG of 1100
The second battery had 4 cells at 1225.

The last week of so cranking had been getting longer and longer. With the new batteries it starts in a second

Glad you figured it out before the 7.3 guys started chiming in with responses like:

"My 2004 6.0 will not start" that's normal or how long did you think it would last

Good to hear. Glad it's running again for you. I mentioned the alt, not for the no crank part speaking on the batteries draining/dead. I thought it important to look at that area too in your troubleshooting as good practice.
Thanks for the update
