Did anyone watch horsepower tv this weekend? Anyway they dynoed the chevy dudes car, not sure of his name. It was a big block that had 203.4 rwhp then they swapped out an old 780 holley and intake for a new 800 cfm edelbrock carb and edelbrock intake. I'm watching and I laugh cause I think its a waste a time, but on the next dyno run the chevy pulls off 309 rwhp. I crapped my pants. Over 100 hp gain on the swap . Want do you think about that 105 hp gain.
429s were like that. FoMoCo produced a toned down and choked up version to get the motor sanctioned or what ever for racing. A new carb and cam and you "unlock" that motor. Who is to say that GM didn't do the same? with that many cubes and only 200 HP, some thing was holding it back.
Yeah I watched that show,
It was a 396 c. i. with an edelbrock performer and an old 780 dp Holley.
They bolted up the new Edelbrock manifold and 800cfm Edelbrock carb and wham! 100 Horses. I'm not sure I buy that one cuz the old 780 Holley was a good upgrade from the Quadrajet.
I was more interested in their tricked out shop!
If I only had a spare million to dump into the garage!
I want to add the checkered floor to my garage now.
I rewired it last week and had it sheetrocked last friday. The tapers are going to finish it off this week and then the new Home Depot storage cabinets all white to match the paint. and a new vinyl black and white floor.
Then I can change the oil and tires on my scooters and trucks.
and hang up my nice new outdoors calender.......
"women in waders". got it from the sportsmans show. yee ha!
Those shops are damn nice not even a spot of oil on the floors. It seems like they have an endless money tree out back or something. I love it when the buy the newest and best parts and tools. I doubt there is a regular floor around that place. I like watch anyway better than the home and garden channel I'm sure.
Chuck Hanson is the Chevy guys name, not sure of the spelling. He mentioned the elky had a 'LS6' big block crate engine from a few years back. How a LS6 454 could only produce 200 rer wheel hp is a mystery to me, however.
