vacuum hose

I have to replace the vacuum hose going from the brake booster to
the intake manifold. The manual says detach the vacuum hose from
the intake manifold connection, pressing in the collar to disengage the tabs
then withdrawing the collar slowly. What tabs are they talking about. It
looks like a big tube to me. 1977 ford F-150 351.
Thanks in advance
P.S. I'm afraid I'll use to much force on it, and break it.

Can you use a razor-knife to put a relief cut in the hose so it will slide off the vac prong/connection?
