'52 Hood Badge brackets

'52 Hood Badge brackets

Scored these on eBay last week. Does anyone have experience/tips for removing the brackets?

I'm trying to decide if I should attempt to remove and fix or do the best I can without removing them. If I leave the brackets in I'd blast the rust, drill the old bolts out, cut a grove and slide/weld new ones in and paint.

I wouldn't try to remove them. Getting the stainless back straight would be a choir. Think I'd use one of the rust converters/neutralizes then, after replacing the studs, coat them with a good red oxide, paint, and install. Stu

I had to fix one of the studs on mine. If you bend the lip of the emblem up, you can rotate the steel to the open slots and remove it.

I'm with Ross. Using some needle nose pliers, "uncrimp" the edge of the emblem just enough to rotate the retainer brackets to the openings. If you're careful, you won't damage anything.
