insulating roof
I'm getting to get ready to the roof of my truck repainted again. And I'm taking the headliner out to get access to remove the clearance lights.
I was curious if anybody has done any extra insulation to the roof of there truck ?
What product did you use ?
Was it effective ?
My truck is black , and the summer months are hot in Fl . I was thinking about this to see if it would help keep it cooler inside with the A/C going.
Any body have any info to add ?
Thanks

Black truck in the south - it is what it is lol.
The cheapest and easiest option would be housing fiberglass cut in strips and pushed into the roof cavity. It would be removable if you sprung a roof leak and it would be easy to run wires through or work through when necessary.
I don't imagine it'll make a huge difference though just because you have the sun beating down on a black car, through the windshield, through the windows, all over the cab and hood/doors, it's just a bad setup to be in if you want a cool ride.
You could always paint the roof top white like they did in the '60's

Below is a link to the best $30 and about an hours time you can spend toward cooling the truck:

Thanks glowplugger for the response.
I have thought about painting the roof a different color..
I have watched different car & truck shows. Seen different products used. Dynamat (not sure if I spelled it right ) and sprayon products lizard skin. They advertise sound and temperature control . Was curious if anybody tried them ? And if it worked ?
The a/c contol mod is another project I have plans to do.
Thanks for the responses , and if anybody else has any comments. Feel free to let me know
