Look up the wiring diagrams to be sure which is the hot and which is the ground terminals on your solenoid then ground it and use the test light to put power to it. You should hear a solid click, hold it for 10-12 seconds quickly pull the test light then try to start the truck. If it starts you know it's the relay and/or wiring, if you don't get a click replace the solenoid.

Well here's the update. I cheched the GP for continuity with light and Nada on at least all 5 I could easily check. Second cracked injectors and got some fuel. Was cranking slow but cleaned cables helped a bit but when I bypassed GP controller and did it manually still no smoke and slow cranking. Like it was dead. Checked voltage at 12.33 volts and all GP I checked with dmm came out ol. Got new plugs coming and will see. I think I fried the GP.

Sadly I wish but putting in starter, and replaced all plugs with autocrap. But when its the only option to be delivered but the first chance to get the beru plugs I will. Also new starter I'm putting in because I think it'll be good thinking the other one doesn't crank fast enough and draws too much and kills the battery quickly. But 2 hrs on 2 amp charge. Warm weather shouldn't need plugs anyways. And yes I'll keep posting

OK update not sure on knock yet but due to the multiple long cranking on and off because the starter was dying, it caused the GP controller to reset and run over and over which inturn burnt out my gp's. So for others out there who may have similar problems check your plugs and check your starter.

read the the stickes on glows.. if you bought just a solenoid it is easy to get the wrong one the correct one has isolated ground, there are two power sources one high current one low. to diagnose glows, plug in the block heater...if it works...if it wont start you have other problems..fix one thing at a time..the glow controller times out after two minutes. the glows should not burn out that easy

Well 6 out of 8 were broken and 2 were swelled. But doing a continuity test has faster results as well. This is how o figured they were blown. The light attached to positive lead and touched top of plug while it was unplugged didn't light up. It should have, also you can take positive lead touch tip of plug and the ground on bottom side for ohms test. Ol indicated burned plug. 0.4-7 if remembered is the range it should be. But this is a simple test, quickly identify which plugs are bad. But the truck turns on a dime since new starter was put in as well.
