Good day all,
has anyone mounted a 1953 Flareside 6 1/2' bed on a 1965 frame? I'm looking for any instructions / "heads up" issues I need to be aware of in advance. Thanks, John
I can say this.....Make sure you ground the bed to the frame!!!!!!! I just went through all kinds of wacky electrical issues when my truck got back from the paint booth.
1953/60 F100 Flaresides with 6 1/2' beds have a 110" wheelbase. 1961/66 F100 Flaresides with 6 1/2' beds have a 114" wheelbase.
The cross member mounting holes in the metal dividers are in a different location 1953/60 vs. 1961/66.
Mar-K (mar-k.com) in OKC reproduces all the 6 1/2' Flareside bed parts including the dividers, also has pine & oak wood bed kits that include the mounting hardware.
But their dividers are only for 1953/60's, because the holes are in a different location for 1961 and later.
