1955 F100 Bed Assembly

1955 F100 Bed Assembly
I'm getting ready to assemble and mount my bed, new front panel, new bed wood lots of body work now ready for paint and install.
After looking at all the pieces it appears that a certain order should be used in assembly, I want to make sure I have it right and not fight with or scratch anything, so here is how I think it should go.
1) Cross members to truck frame
2) Left and Right Bed Wood installed (loosely) in the bed
3) Bed on Truck
4) Complete Bed Wood
Does this sound right?

That way will work but I can't say that it is the only way or even the best way. If you choose to mount the cross members first then be aware that the lips on the lower edges of the bed sides will hit the ends of the cross members when the bed is lowered over them. To be sure that this doesn't happen you can tilt the bed as you set it down over the members but you do risk the chance of scratching the paint. I have a cart that I built that holds the bed in the proper orientation (I used the dimensions of the frame mounting points to design the cart) so that I can assemble the bed in one piece and then drop it on the frame in one piece. With the bed off the frame it is much easier to attach the bed wood/strips/bolts than it is with the bed on the frame.
