Does anyone know how to remove the Ford emblem on the tailgate? It looks like it's screwed from the inside of the tailgate. I found a sweet junkyard emblem in great condition and I don't want to ruin it trying to get it off.

There is no individual tail gate emblem on these trucks.
1973/79 F100/350 Ranger/Ranger XLT & 1978/79 Lariat have anodized aluminum tail gate finish panels (425A34 in pic).
The center finish panel has FORD letters on it. The upper finish panel is black, but was only used on Ranger XLT's and 1978/79 Lariats.
These finish panels have clips on their backside, screws go thru the backside of the tailgate, thread into the clips.
Sorry, I meant panel, not emblem. That's the one I'm talking about- center panel with the FORD letters on it. How do you get to those screws? Am I missing something because at first look it seems they are inside the tailgate.
The clips are usually riveted to the tailgate. The heads are on the inside side. I've also seen then held on with screws.. again, on the inside side of the tailgate.
If going to the JY, bring a hammer and small chisel with a fine tip.
There is a hyperlink in the tech thread compilation on how to mount one....
X2 on its screwed on from the inside or back side of the tailgate with phillips head screws. And yes if the screws are stripped use a chisel and cut the head off or a drill and a slightly bigger drill bit and drill the head off.

They also make great man cave decorations!
I spy something that is red attached to one of your tailgate panels, is that factory or dealer or aftermarket!?
Yes those are red lights, that are powered by the tail light harness and come on with the park lights. And that is the larger aluminium/black tailgate panel that is on the top half.
Lights do not say Ford and the wiring/connections are not factor looking. I think it was a PO mod.
