i HAVE 2006 FORD EXPEDITION 5.4L AND IT HAS A ROUGH IDLE AND BURN LOTS OF GAS. TRIED NEW SOLENOID BUT DINT FIX THE PROBLEM. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE CODE IS READING BAD SOLENOID. PLEASE HELP

 

The code does not read " Bad solenoid". What does it really say?

 

There should be a code, like P**** where * is a number, i.e. P0174, P0420 or similar. Hard to say anything without that, though a basic advise might include to check for vacuum leak, but we really don't have much to go on here.

Other details would also be helpful. Other than being thirsty and having rough idles, are there any other symptoms? Lack of power, shuddering when driving, or anything else? Any unusual noises?

 

What solenoid did you replace and what was the code (or codes) read?

 

Vacuum line to PVC valve is a plastic tube that transitions to a short rubber piece that goes to the valve, it was like melted nearly in two. Replaced 3 inch rubber piece, problem cured.

 

I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard of this problem...I'd own my own island by now.
