What's wrong with the one you have? Might save a lot of money and headache to just rebuild yours Where are you located, you should finish your profile as well
Also don't discount a good used one. I just found one for a friend with 78000 miles for $1500.00. It was still in running condition in the totaled pick up. He's installing it as I type...lol.
I have just pulled the v10 from my 2007 f350 at the moment. Can't help you with the replacement but have learned a few things along the way.
I would pull the intake manifold off so you have more room to lift up and clear the oil pan. That will also give better choices to place the chains. I moved the wire bundle that runs across the cowl as well. I also took everything off the front of the engine including the power steering pump, alternator and the ac pump. Also the obvious things like the hood, rad, oil filter and starter. I removed the four bolts between the motor and the mounts and the three on each side that hold the mount to the cross member and I lifted everything straight up and pulled the mounts out. Gave me a lot more room. I think you could get away with just the three to the cross member but it was 15 minutes to do them all. I the blocked the trans and separated them. Up, forward, up and out was all that was needed. All in it took around 8 hours but I am old and slow. Now to drill out the exhaust studs. Could have done the passenger side in the truck but the drivers side was real tight. Thought I would be time ahead doing all of them on a stand and not risk messing up a head. Also gave me a good opportunity to clean everything up. Good luck with your project and I have not found anything extra tuff so far.
The motor was ran out of oil. There's not one shop for 150 miles round that will rebuild the V 10 because of leaks they says. I thank you for the reply....
I'm very interested in the locations you used to bolt the chains to engine. I have a 4 chain engine leveler and want to make sure the best location for the lift because weight @ size. I'm not going to remove the hood or radiator not sure if that's a mistake till that second.
