Last week, the power mirror on the driver's side wouldn't fold in. It started to come, then said screw it. If I pulled it after it stopped, it limpingly continued its journey. On the return trip, it would make it's power mirror sound, but not move. A little shove and out it went... again limping.
Now, after a week in Ohio and needing to fold them again to get in the garage, all seems well. Mostly. It is slightly lazy and behind it's sibling on the passenger side at times, but it is working as it should.
Is this common, and is it something can be looked at internally, and replaced by me if possible?
Five months later it is at it again. First sign of the recurrence was yesterday when I went to take her out of the garage and the driver mirror was extended. I have to retract them to get it into the garage. It was parked about 24 hours and somehow the driver mirror extended on its own.
It wouldn't retract on its own to get it out of the garage, so I pulled it in by hand. Next, it wouldn't go out... it moved a bit, but that was it. Same thing with trying to bring it in once it was out. Had to pull it in to put her away.
Took it to the dealer this morning. Of course, its kinda fine, but sluggish. It is a little louder than the passenger side, you can hear the motor chugging, and it is slower than the other one. The dealer reset whatever they do for it and it didn't help. Has to be replaced under ESP, but they needed to take a ton of pictures of it to prove it hasn't been damaged in any way.

Should have a new one in a week or so.
Hi BCM,
It sounds like your dealer is on top of things, but don't hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance. How many miles are on your truck these days?
IF not there was post on how to fix the mirror yourself. The post was on this site. I could not find the post. The problem is basically a metal part is spinning inside a plastic gear. The guy used JB Weld to secure the metal shaft in the plastic gear. This fixed the problem. The Mirrors are expensive so spend the time looking for post. I would spend more time looking but I am at work.
