hi all, just finished replacing head gaskets and doing initial startup but wont hold a prime. if i stay at it and restart right away and keep half throttle i can run about 45 seconds tops. if i have to leave for even a short period of time i start almost over again taking 4 to5 crank cycles to start. you guys are always great for helping in these predicaments, thanks
You can get a machine shop to make some fitting on a hose long enough to come out the hood in front of the windshield. You connect one end to a plug that you remove from the head and the other to a gauge. Or, get a AE, scangauge, etc. to read ICP.
with proper pressures on fuel and oil the only thing stopping is IDM correct? the injector has to recieve the signal to open? what else could be the culprit?
When it starts I hold about 2200rpm and it dies after 45 seconds been about an hour and a half this way was just worried it was something else but I'll keep at it thanks guys
It won't idle? It should run though a bit rough for 15-20 seconds maybe.
The dying tho is NOT correct.it will be hard to start until the air gets worked through.that can take a few miles.
Okay hooked up an edge who to watch parameters ipr%55. Icp180. Ipw .42 this is while cranking at highest. Diesnt the pressure need to be around 600 to start?
Please take no offence, just going down the list. You changed the oil and filter after the head job correct? Oil is clean and full. The IPR is pluged back in. You made sure a single ground wire last bolt of the intake is a stud and that wire is grounded there. You felt all the FICM connection click firmly into it (click)
No room for offense. I am worried I missed something. Grounds look good clean and right. My ground at the at the back right of the head is bolted and goes over to a screw on the body is that the one you are referring to? Oil is new and clean hoop reservoir is full to plug. Fuel bowl is clean injectors have new oring kits on them. Just rechecked all wiring harness and all are right and look good. Starting to wonder about cos at crank? Any thoughts?
