I don't believe I've ever posted in this forum as I didn't think I could afford to, but ... today I compared these two engines. From my perspective they were the same. However I think I remember some scuttlebutt about the early 6.7L.
Is the 2011 OK or are there some warnings? Thank you, y'all.
FYI, the 2011 is an F250 Lariat, CC, SB, 4WD, with every known feature on it: heated/cooled leather, navigation, sunroof, backup sensors, installed 5th wheel hitch and roll up bed cover, etc. 72xxx miles.
The 2014 is a stripped (no additional content) XLT, F250, CC, LB, 4WD; 17xxx miles.
Different dealers and within $200 of each other ($40K).
I compared it to a new 2015 (same equip list) on the lot. I forget sticker price but believe it was higher 50s but dealer marked down to 48+K, so this one was an additional 8K off that posted discounted price.
That's what I thought I remembered (valve issues). Was this a problem that showed with early miles or after a couple of years/miles? Would the above 2011 w/ 72K miles already have had this issue or still could develop?
As much as I prefer this older dressed up one I don't think its fairly priced, at least I perceive the newer one is a better value.
It is a crap shoot, the early 11 could still have the valve issue, price seems high for it.
You should be able to get about 12K off a new one these days. For an 8K difference I would get a new one, or save till I could.
Best of luck with your decision.
Pat
That referenced one is $44,500. This one is still coming in substantially better than that; and I won't have to suffer thru the new truck smell<grin>.</grin>

I'll suffer thru that terrible smell any time. lol
It was only the early run 2011's that had the possibility of the valve issue. By spring time 2011 they'd made changes. So far 55k on my 2011 (built in June 2011) and no driveline problems at all.
