First Time Start Today

Well, it turns out to be bad news. Not too terribly bad, but more work and time. Got everything wired, fluids all in, started priming the oil pump, once the block was full of oil, oil started pouring out the back of the block right next to the rear main seal. Suspect? Oil galley plugs.... So, gotta drop the transmission and pull off the flywheel and see where its coming from.. To be Continued....

true, I could look at the bright side. But, I was so excited about hearing that thing run today after 2 1/2 years

Hey Jason,
I think it's exciting you got it fired up!!! So it leaked a little oil -
Do you have any video of it running?

When we finally got our's ready for it's first run - it went about 1/2 a mile & all 4 brakes locked up solid in an intersection .... nice.... Takes a few months to shake out all the things that need attention.

Hang in there.

Didn't try to start it. When I primed the oil pump, oil was pouring out of the back of the block where the bellhousing meets.

As noted above, better to find out this way than when it's running itself out of oil, quickly. Count yourself fortunate, even if it won't be a fun fix.

Could be a lot worse. Tomorrow is another day. To put it in perspective, what's a couple more days after 2 1/2 years? But I do understand your disappointment.

Found my culprit for the oil pouring out of the rear of the block. I'll let you guys figure it out.

Also think my timing chain cover is weeping. Might be the wrong timing cover also. It's a stock timing cover, 351w, but I have the march pulley system that calls for reverse rotation water pump 86-93 mustang. I think I'll worry about getting the transmission back on and then tackle the front issues

There's a threaded bolt hole near this puddle that doesn't have a bolt. You can't put a bolt through the water pump to plug it, because there's no bolt hole. So my thinking is that I need a different timing chain cover.
