Ok, I got every thing more or less in order, but figured I would ask a question before I start the process of replacing the Alt in my truck.
I know where it is and will be getting a new one soon (most likely when I get paid) and putting a 3rd gen in at least a 130AMP what I want to know is will it be quick and easy? I see three bolts, and obviously the serp belt, and one power connector/ground am i correct in assuming that it should be relatively quick (done in about 30 minutes to an hour)??
I am not sure about a 95 but on my 88 and 89 the alternator plug was rotten and I had to replace them as well.
Yes, the 2G versions like yours had a bunch of trouble with those plugs, and some vehicles burned to the ground because of them... In the 3G's they eliminated the crappy plugs... thank goodness!!!

Your 95 should have a 3G already. Disconnect, remove, install, reconnect and you're could be done. I say could be because you should really replace the output cable with a heavier gauge and also fuse it like the newer trucks. By the looks of it the factory cable is undersized for even 95A service.
ok cool, what gauge would you guys suggest and should I go fuse or circut breaker in line? and how many Amps? (I have a 3g alt already and will be replacing it with same type)
