P0455 & stalling
Hi all,
New guy here.
My truck has been stalling on stops for the past few days. Runs fine when I first fire her up and on the highway, but sometimes when I come to a stop she stall.
Today, all of a sudden I get a code P0455. Most places say to replace the fuel cap but nobody is complaining about stalling. I'm thinking my problem is worst than the average bear, and the fact that the cap was replaced a couple of years ago.
So can it be the evap purge valve? how do I test it?
Thanks!
G

The IAC may have a fault you cannot clear by cleaning.
It has a spring loaded diaphragm that acts like a dash pot.
In order to do this function the diaphragm has a very small bleed hole to control air flow in and out behind the diaphragm.
If the hole is blocked it will not function as a dash pot and you cannot get at it to tell.
This often shows up at cold start as a normal start then stall because the IAC cannot react to the computer signal to control it and airflow for hot idle and cold high idle..
A way to tell at normal hot idle is remove the plug.
If it stalls or lowers the motor idle the IAC is working at that moment.
Good luck.
