Tuner Question

So...I bought an SCTX4 tuner for my 7.3 diesel which is fairly stock. Ran the street tune program, and after tuning the truck wont start. At all.

It is throwing two codes, one is ""anti theft vehicle disabled' and the other is OBD update incomplete or something.

I returned to stock tune, same thing. Tried to clear the codes, they won't clear.

Any thoughts?

I am 4th in line on the SCT help line--moved up from 6th in the last 20 minutes.

Thanks

I think it is problem inherent with all these tuners that upgrade via the ODB port. My Edge is doing the same thing right now. It has always had this problem since day one that I got it. Its hit or miss if you change the programming for any reason. Going to put it at stock and order me a hydra chip asap..

SCT Tech people helped me right out--the engine has been disabled by the passive anti theft system--the car is literally disabled.

Not sure if it resets (in thirty minutes for your case) or not, but they gave me instructions to reset it manually.

1. Put the key in the ignition and switch it on, but don't start the engine.
The anti theft light should blink rapidly for 30-45 seconds, and then either go out or blink slowly.

2. After the light goes out or blinks slowly, turn the ignition off and remove the key. Keep the key out of the ignition for 10 seconds.

At that point, you should be good to go--the system is reset.

Started right up. Thanks for the replies!

I run a PHP hydra in my 03 7.3 and love it! No issues from day one. Something like 18 tunes possible and USB line to change them up via a laptop if wanted. For the 7.3, I don't think it can be beat for the price. The guys at PHP are great!

Lots of good tuners have licenses for the Hydra as well, so there's the option to just pay for different tunes in the future instead of new hardware, etc.

I stand by the guys at Gearhead being second to none. Tons of converts from PHP, DP, etc including myself.
