Hello All -
I've been reading the forum for a while and thought I'd better join given all the useful information I've stolen from you guys already.
I'm curious about the warranty plate on this stake bed - looks like a Gov't vehicle. I believe it's a I6-240 built in New Jersey, but it doesn't appear to provide any details about the trans or rear axle. Any thoughts on what those might be?
Thanks for keeping this site active and interesting - I'm hooked.
Thanks - I wasn't sure if the Gov't required a different plate or if it was in addition to the warranty plate on the door. I had asked the seller if the door plate was there, but haven't gotten a reply.
I have pretty much the same truck. Does anyone Know if that's the stock rear bumper in the pic. I'm missing mine.
No rear bumper was available from Ford for Cab & Chassis, or flat or stake beds. Rear bumpers were only available (optional) for Flaresides & Stylesides.
The bumper on this truck looks like the painted contoured rear bumper that was optional for F100/350's with Styleside beds. A previous owner added it
Seller claims this truck has the original Ford flatbed, but it's not. Beginning in 1957, genuine Ford flat and stake beds have F O R D block letters at the center rear (see pic).
Previous years had the Ford script in the same location.
Actually - if you look close you can see the F O R D block letters in the picture. I'm thinking about running down this weel to look at this truck if anyone wants me to look at anything in particular, I'm happy to do it.
