Why are they pulling the motor... Rebuilding, right? I'd try to see if they'll agree on a flat rate price for engine rebuild to include installation and setup. At least that way there is some idea on what the price will be.
Keep in mind that certain conditions often have to be met for any kind of warranty, for example, a new radiator.
Agree with Tedster, I would also check to determine how reliable the shop is; i.e., length in business, conditions of warranty and disclaimers; if only 90 day I would shop around. Also go to their website for customer reviews, if they have been in business for any length of time should be able to find customer input. I purchased a created engine from a shop in the state of Wash., read testimonials and customer reviews, they offered a 7 year warranty so I purchased a 302 long block delivered for around $1700, this was 8 years ago.
I agree, too many variable with pulling and installing an engine so if you can get them to commit to a price range all the better. I have had a few engines rebuilt and found they ran anywhere from $2400 to $3000, from a reputable shop, but I delivered the engine.
